The Last Minute

Leaves are flying into the air. Clouds are turning into gray. The sun is setting down behind the horizon. The great silence of surroundings filled with melancholic sound played by a boy with his guitar beside a river. His name is Keero. He used to be alone whenever he longs for his parents. Keero’s mother died when she’s delivering him from her womb and his father depressed to what happened that’s why he left Keero to his grandparents and journeyed to another place.

One time he’s sitting down in big rock under a tree, she saw a girl playing on the pasture, picking dandelions. He shouted and asked the girl if what her name is. “Oh, I’m Clea! Come on! Join me here!” she squealed. He moves out from his place going with her. Keero never felt of being lonely anymore when Clea came from his life. As the time goes by, Keero and Clea turn out to be good friends. From now on they are always together playing in the meadow and if their tired they will lay down in the carpet of green grasses. Keero will play his guitar and sings a song until Clea fall asleep into his shoulder.


As they grew up, Keero realized that love starts to spring from his heart He never thought that his heart will fall with Clea. He used to be mute, and choose not to speak with his feelings for he is afraid that Clea will stay away with him. And he has fear that Clea will lose from his arms. So he remains silent. They’re just like playing hide and seek because Keero don’t even know that Clea has hidden feelings with him also.

Late in the afternoon when Clea was walking beside the river, when her head was accidentally bumped into the face of guy named Flinx. He asks for apology with her. Clea can’t speak. She blushed when she saw his handsome face. Then Flinx inquires if she’s okay. Clea was stuttering. She can’t speak nicely. Flinx and Clea get along with each other and they dig the story of their life.

Flinx’s father has pastures of gold and precious gems. He owns a company in a city. But because he doesn’t want the plans of his father for him, Flinx took revenge. He left their house and took to other place that’s why Flinx is there. Flinx was staying in a cabin in their place .Then Clea starts also to tell about his life. As she mentioned about Keeno, she saw him under the tree sitting there. She called him and introduced Flinx. Keeno shake hands Flinx. But deep inside of Keeno, jealousy is bursting from his heart. But since darkness covered the skies, the three went home already. Clea and Keeno are together as they go to their houses.

Then Keero offers Clea to have a date with him. Clea was shocked. Beat of their heart gets faster. Clea don’t know what to say at first but as Keero explains that it is just a friendly date. So Clea answered YES to his offer and promised that she will never disappoint him with sweet smiles from her face. Keero will wait Clea under the tree with beautiful blossom flowers which is beside the river. Keero was jumping with joy. On that night, he was staring on the skies and watching the stars glimmering. His mind was traveling for he cannot sleep. He’s thinking of what will happen on their date. The day he chose for the date is before the birthday of Clea. So, as a gift he composed a song relating of their friendship and his feelings with her. And he taped it in a recorder.

And now the most awaited day has come. And as time keeps on running, he can’t explain his feeling. He is nervous yet excited. Keero went already to the area to prepare the setting of their date. He makes sure that Clea will greatly surprise of what she will be seen. He hangs lamps on the braches of the tress to light the atmosphere. Then he put a huge candle at the center of the table with dandelions around it.

On the other side, Clea was putting up now her beautiful dress. Since it is her first date, she wants that it will be a remarkable day. The nights have fallen, and the date will be going to start. Clea was about to go on the spot of their date when Flinx unexpectedly came. Flinx asked her to go with him and told her that he has a surprise.
She tried to explain and say to him that she has a date with Keero but she wasn’t able to say it because Flinx grasped her going in the city. But since Clea admires Flinx, she favored Flinx than Keero. On their date, Flinx told Clea that he likes her. Then Flinx forcedly lie down Clea on the floor. Clea tried to fight him but she was trapped already in a quicksand where she can’t move.


Keero was still there waiting for Clea who is very excited. Minutes and hours have passed, Clea was not yet arrived. But Keero is still positive that Clea will come. Its twelve o’clock in the morning, the birthday of Clea begins but she’s not yet there. Keero get his guitar playing the Happy Birthday song. While he’s singing, tears are falling from his eyes. On that time he is now hopeless, downfall and feeling so weak. But then suddenly, Strong winds are crushing in the trees, thunders are roaring and raindrops starts to fall. Keero still chose to stay anticipating that he will see the shadow of Clea.

Dried leaves are falling, morning dews from the leaves and the sun rises up behind the peak of mountains. Clea woke up. And when she makes up her mind, she cried for her virginity has lost. She went home going under the tree; the place of their date with Keero supposed to be. And there she saw Keero lied down in the ground with no life. She cried from his loudest cry. She asks for forgivness but it’s too late to uter those words because Keero can’t anymore hear her. She saw the recorder and under it is a letter. She plays the recorder. And as she hears the voice of Keero singing, Crystal tears are streaming down from her eyes. And then she read the letter saying:

To my beloved Clea,

I’m so thankful that I’ve found a friend like you who came into my life in the darkest night. You gave your helping hand when I fall down. You offer your shoulders to lean on and cry and you always have your best and never tired to try.
No one can take your place inside my heart because you’re the only one who conquered my love. I keep on pretending before and keep being silent but now I have the courage to say those words that needs to be spoken. Sorry to tell this to you that my heart have fallen in love with you. I hope you understand me and believe it’s true. And I haven’t told this before to you that I have a very dangerous illness which is leukemia. And before I leave you on this world we are living onto, I just want to show how much I love you. And you are the reason why I still want to live because I want stay with you until to the last minute of my life.

And I preserve the last air that I breathe ONLY FOR YOU.
